Numerical listing of telephone country codes with their locations

How this page works
Note regarding low- and full-graphics versions

This page uses limited graphics, optimized for use with a screen reader. If you are not using a screen reader or similar assistive technology, and would like the full graphics version, please check out Telephone Country Codes, optimized for visual presentation At some point, the plan is to merge the two pages into one, but the full graphics version contains a number of elements that don’t work well with screen readers, and merging them will require rebuilding the page from the ground up. The good news is, telephone country codes don’t change much, so the pages should remain in sync for a while.

What does the plus sign mean?

The plus sign (+) indicates that a telephone number is written in standard international format, omitting any national prefixes, beginning with the country code (one, two, or three digits), followed by the National Significant Number.

Many mobile phones allow you to enter the plus sign as part of the number, automatically replacing it with the appropriate international dialing prefix for calls from your current location, even if you are traveling internationally. If your phone does not allow you to enter the plus sign as such, replace it with the correct international dialing prefix, most commonly 00 or 011, for calls from your current location.

The plus sign also means that in most cases the area code or city code should omit the trunk prefix, most commonly 0, although there are exceptions to this rule. You may see phone numbers written with the trunk prefix included, often in parentheses, but that is not standard format and may confuse people, especially because there are a few countries where the National Significant Number can begin with 0, meaning that you must include it when dialing internationally.

Primary navigation method

The easiest way to find a specific country code is to use the, "Find," function in your browser. That should jump you directly to the one you want, although a country code may also be mentioned in the descriptions of some of the nearby or related countries.

You can also append a hash followed by the one-, two-, or three-digit country code, for example #380, that is, hash 3 8 0, to the URL of this page, to jump directly to a specific country code.

Alternative navigation method

The list is structured as a tree, branching with each successive digit of the country code. There are two single-digit country codes. The first is +1 for North America, including Canada, the United States and all of its territories, and eighteen island countries and territories, mostly in the Caribbean Sea. The other single-digit country code is +7, which was originally the entire USSR, but is now only Russia and Kazakhstan. All other country codes are two or three digits. Select the disclosure triangle for the first digit of the country code, and then scroll down to select the second and third digits if necessary.

Country codes in numerical order

Telephone country code +1 is the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), which covers Canada, the United States and its territories, and 18 other island countries and territories, mostly in the Caribbean Sea.
